Forum of Business by Brahmins as seen and Envisioned by Me
Bharat, as an ancient nation has been long known for its contribution in various spheres. From Agriculture to Astronomy the footprints of our contributions are visible to this day. More than 20 centuries back this nation had numerous successful enterprises. We not only produced for our own consumption but also exported to different parts of the globe. The fact that our nation’s GDP contribution to the global GDP was higher than 20%, in those times, stands a testimony to our enterprising nature and ability to do business. The combination of our enterprising nature combined with a strong family system has kept the foundation of our enterprises intact and growing.
The idea of business enterprises has long been confined to certain communities who by lineage continue to hold the reins of the trade over multiple generations. As an outcome of industrialization of Intellectual capital over the past few decades Brahmin communities that were hitherto confined to employment have been able to break the glass ceiling and create enterprises in various spheres. The evolution of services as a sector also helped in the emergence of many First-generation entrepreneurs in the in the Brahmin community. Globalization further helped the Intellectual communities to explore unchartered territories of running business enterprises. The combination of ability to create a successful business enterprise along with a strong value system embedded in the community DNA has paved way for creation of a unique social capital never seen before.
The advent of “forum of Business By Brahmins” has opened a new paradigm for the Brahmin community to come together, nurture and nourish this social capital. The rigour and discipline with which the forum is run makes it clearly stand out amongst any of the initiatives that are being run today. In the short term while it seems to enable transactions amongst its members, the forum is a powerful platform to understand and explore opportunities in various dimensions. In the medium term this forum could well be the Springboard for the Millennial generation who can challenge and change the ways of the world. In the long term the forum creates a space for the next generation to aspire to create successful and sustainable enterprises that many of their ancestors could not have dreamt of.
It is certainly a privilege to be part of this forum that is out to build a social capital that will help the generations to come.
